STF Hotel & hostel Hudiksvall Kungsgården Långvind

Kungsgården Långvind is a Hälsingland estate in the environment of an iron foundry from the time of the Swedish Empire, carefully remodelled and personally decorated with tasteful furniture and textiles, art and maps on the walls. Enjoy a dip in the sea, fishing and kayaking, explore the foundry environment or the local auctions, flea markets and museums.

Kungsgården Långvind is likely an old royal manor that was moved from Norrala, the neighbouring parish, which had been the seat of one of Norrland’s six royal manors since the Middle Ages. Kungsgården Långvind was the dwelling of four blacksmith families for roughly one hundred years. When the Långvind iron foundry discontinued its operations, the manor became the residence for agricultural and forestry workers.

There is plenty to do here. There are golf courses in Hudiksvall, Söderhamn and Nansta. Långvind also has a recreational area where you can have some fun playing tennis, mini-golf, football, beach volleyball and pétanque. There are long sand beaches where you can swim in the sea in Snäcken and Kråknäs as well as a lakeside beach in Byhedsjön; all three beaches are situated near Långvind’s recreational area.

If you would like to explore the local cultural treasures, you can visit the Hälsingland farms which are set to be added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. We also recommend Iggesund’s foundry museum, Hälsingland’s museum in Hudiksvall and Söderhamn’s museum. There are three well-preserved medieval churches near Långvind – Enånger, Njutånger and Trönö – and a unique fisherman’s chapel in Hälsingland’s archipelago. Långvind also has its own chapel, manor and foundry museum open for you to explore by arrangement.

The stream which formed the foundation for the iron foundry flows 15 metres away from the manor. Kungsgården Långvind is situated in a unique foundry milieu from the time of the Swedish Empire, in the midst of woods, fields, creeks, lakes and the sea. The Baltic Sea is approximately 1 kilometre from Kungsgården Långvind. The manor is located at the beginning of “foundry street” and the linden tree lane and other hardwood trees make the Långvind foundry particularly special, because hardwood trees rarely grow so far north in Sweden.
