Movikens blast

In the 18th century, iron ore was discovered in Bjuråker. Movikens blast furnace was built at the beach by Northern Dellen and was put into operation in 1797.

The days of glory were between 1827 and 1856. The furnace was rebuilt in the 1860’s and was replaced by a completely new one in 1903. The operation was shut down in 1937. Today, the blast furnace is restored and provides a good insight into the pig iron production.
